Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, dump both cans of apple filling in. Add in the cinnamon and nutmeg and stir.
Next, spoon apple pie filling into a greased 9x13" casserole dish. Using a silicon spatula, evenly spread pie filling around to cover bottom of pan.
Drizzle caramel sauce all over pie filling and swirl around with spatula or spoon.
Then, sprinkle dry cake mix over apple pie filling until it covers it completely.
Last, drizzle melted butter over cake mix and bake in oven for 45-60 minutes.
Ours baked for an hour. Your oven's temperature varies from mine, therefore you may have to bake yours for the same time or maybe a little less. Just keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn.
You want the cake mix "crust" to be a light/medium golden brown (like in the pictures).
Once out of oven, allow to cool for about 5 minutes before serving and eating.
Makes 8-10 servings.
Optional Toppings: Top with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream and more caramel sauce.
