Apple Cranberry Sauce

This sauce has fresh cranberries, apple, and just the right amount of spices and sugar to help balance the tartness of the cranberries.

Ingredients

  • 1 12 oz. bag fresh cranberries
  • 1 large apple ex. honey crisp, peeled, cored & chopped
  • 1 c. apple juice
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients, minus vanilla extract, to a medium saucepan. Turn heat to medium-high and stir ingredients together.
  • Allow mixture to simmer while stirring occasionally. Berries will burst and start to break down. Turn heat down to medium-low. Use a potato masher, optional, to help mash the apple pieces down more.
  • Should take in total about 12-15 minutes before cranberry sauce is cooked. Take off of heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
